Our Story

Sahara Harissa is a hot sauce inspired by the founder's centuries-old family recipe. Passed down through my mother's side of the family in Algeria, this is the harissa we grew up with.

Every summer growing up, I’d return to Algeria's Mediterranean coast where meals were long, food was fresh, and harissa was always on the table. My Grandmother (picture on the left) would cook these delicious meals for us.

As an Algerian-American, I realized how few people in the U.S. had ever tasted real harissa. Real harissa packs the right balance flavor and spice in a single serving, but it is complementary to the food you eat it with, it doesn't dominate.

So I took our traditional recipe and made it easily accessible so that you can also experience the great flavor of this Mediterranean hot sauce.

This recipe brought generations of my family great memories. I hope it does the same for you.
